Springwater has been my home for more nearly four decades, and public service has been a lifelong commitment.
As your Deputy Mayor, I have worked to be accessible, prepared, and accountable, always putting residents voices first by standing with them. I am ready to bring steady, respectful leadership to the Mayor’s office and work with every member of Council in always putting Springwater first.
Springwater deserves experienced leadership that listens to residents, respects every tax dollar and makes decisions with our Township’s long-term future in mind.
As Mayor, I will lead a respectful, professional Council that asks difficult questions, works through differences and remains accountable to the people we serve.
Residents must remain at the centre of every decision made by Council.
Residents deserve safe roads, reliable services, responsive leadership and communities where families and businesses can thrive.
Every tax dollar should be respected, and every budget decision should deliver clear value.
Decisions should be openly debated, clearly explained and made in the best interests of Springwater residents.
Growth must be supported by properly planned roads, water, emergency services, recreation and municipal infrastructure.
Township spending must be disciplined, transparent and focused on the services residents rely on. I will ask tough questions, challenge unnecessary costs and ensure every budget decision delivers clear value for Springwater taxpayers.
Growth must be carefully managed, with roads, water, emergency services, recreation and other infrastructure planned alongside new development. I will review proposals and agreements closely, protect the character of our communities and ensure decisions are made in Springwater’s long-term interest.
Springwater’s economy is built by local business, farmers, entrepreneurs, and tradespeople. I will support responsible economic development that creates opportunities close to home while respecting the rural foundation of our Township and character of our communities.
Residents deserve safe roads, responsive emergency services, and dependable municipal services. I will draw on my extensive public safety experience and keep the safety of residents at the forefront. I will advocate for our seniors, improved access to health-care services, and improved public transit.
As Mayor, I will not concentrate important decisions in one office. I believe a Mayor should lead through collaboration with other council members. Springwater is best served when every elected representative has a meaningful voice, decisions are debated openly, and residents understand how and why Council acts.
I will lead a respectful, professional Council that asks difficult questions, works through differences, and remains accountable to the people we serve.
“I am pleased to offer my strong endorsement of George Cabral for Mayor of the Township of Springwater.
I had the privilege of serving on Council with George from 2018 to 2022. During that time, I came to know him as a dedicated, thoughtful, and hardworking representative. George takes the time to do his research before making decisions. He approaches issues with care, diligence, and a clear understanding of how those decisions will affect residents.
George has been a strong voice for the people of Springwater, including through his opposition to and challenge of the use of strong mayor powers to provide 4,300 acres of prime Springwater land to the City of Barrie.
His extensive police career, which included dealing with emergency situations and crisis management, has demanded strong leadership and makes George an outstanding candidate for mayor.
I believe George Cabral will make an excellent Mayor. His experience, dedication, commitment to responsible leadership, and respect for democracy will serve the Township of Springwater well.”
“As President of the Springwater United Soccer Academy, I am proud to endorse George Cabral for Mayor of Springwater Township.
Our community thrives when local leadership invests in youth and sports. George understands that quality fields and accessible recreational programs build stronger, healthier communities.
He has consistently advocated for modernizing our local facilities and ensuring every child has the opportunity to play. These qualities have been recently demonstrated in ensuring our association has access to the Adam Elliott Park in Midhurst.
George brings the leadership, experience and dedication needed to deliver real results for our families on and off the field. I encourage our entire soccer family and beyond to vote George Cabral for Mayor on Election Day.”
“I observed George’s performance on Council the first term after I was Mayor and to say the least was impressed. His thoughtful input on matters before council were well researched and
added to the decision making process resulting in better outcomes. If not for his leadership and calm, but pointed approach in his second term, there would have been more chaos on Council because of the weakness of the Mayor’s leadership experience and ability.”
This election is an opportunity to choose experienced, accountable and respectful leadership for Springwater.
